Aaron was good at pissing people off. He considered it a talent sometimes.
But it was only this one time that he absolutely knew he was pissing someone off for all the right reasons.
He was even suffering having to dress up! His messy red hair he had refused to slick back like his mother had wished, but he had given into wearing a suit. After, of course, insisting there be a tailcoat. He was sure Vincentia would appreciate it, of course.
Aaron lounged in the Crowley's large living space happily, eyeing the paintings and furniture with only mild distaste. It wasn't like it was bad quality or anything, it was just that Aaron preferred a modest living instead of all this fancy noble crap. Which was ridiculous since he was a high noble himself.
Aaron had blocked out most of the conversation that was being had, only jumping in now and again to compliment Mrs. Crowley, or exchange in some witty banter with Mr. Crowley, but now he heard something that finally got his attention.
His father had stood and was shaking hands with Mr. Crowley. "I'm glad we've come to an agreement. Thank you for allowing my wife and my son into your lovely home. I'm sure your beautiful Vincentia will be glad to hear the news of her betrothal to Aaron. I know he was very insistent that we arrange this marriage."
Aaron grinned wickedly to himself before turning to face the parents with the kindest grin he could muster - though he could never shake the truly mischievous edge from his grin. "Where is Vin anyhow? I haven't seen her in a while."
Time for phase two of his plan: Seeing how she would react when in front of her parents.
He wanted to know if she was different at home. If she tried to lie to her parents with fake smiles and laughter the way he had seen her do sometimes at school.
Oh, and he was totally eager to see her face when she heard they were engaged. This was gonna be great!
