Amadeus continued to attempt to dodge the Nemisi's talons, picking off a few more.
A whistle from below him drew their attention. Not his, however. He guessed it was Ade, being useful.
Three Nemisi veered off to attack her, and Amadeus took advantage of the distraction to put bullet holes through the rest of their heads.
Running over to his rifle, he took the opportunity to reload all of his clips quickly, then stuffing the pistols in his belt.
"Thanks!"
Getting the gun into position, he scanned the Courtyard. His eyes grew large.
Now that was one heck of a Lasher.
"Ade! Five o' clock!"
He hoped she realized that he wasn't asking her out on another date and was telling her to look nearly directly behind herself, as if she were facing towards twelve on a clock.
The thing's carapace was a vibrant crimson, with a few dents here and there. It stalked into the Courtyard, screeching out a challenge.
Oh, well, no need to warn her, apparently.
Can bullets even get through that? He frowned. Might as well try.
Raising the rifle up into the ready position, he unloaded the entire clip into the Lasher. It was about the size of a large dog. Although not nearly the largest out there, it was still especially large for its species, and as their carapace grew thicker with every year they lived, it probably wasn't about to get killed easily.
"Stand back!" he screamed as loud as possible. He'd only taken a few hand grenades from Aaron, but he figured it was about time he used one.
Pulling the pin with his teeth, he ran down the roof and lobbed it as hard as he could at the beast. Hopefully he'd at least dent the carapace and stun it.
