Lost in the moment - Or the hallways in this case.

She yawned as she walked through the hallways, her dress-like pants swishing around her ankles with every step. She had a tight spaghetti-string top on that showed a little bit of cleavage, just enough to keep the men guessing. Not that she had much to show of course. Both the pants and top were black and because of the headmaster’s recent… training sessions she had her two Katanas at either side of her hips and a bag filled with her secret weapons just behind them. The small pouch-like bag was black so it was barely visible to anyone who saw it and to put it in laymans terms it looked like a bag of marbles. Her hair was clipped with a claw clip yet a few strands had still found their way to her face, she blew at them occasionally not that it helped much, it just sent them flying in the air and then back down to her face.

She was carrying a book under one arm and a slip of paper in the other, slowly she scanned the paper, reading the words over and over again. As she tried to make sense of them, it wasn’t academics of course. It was her mother’s poor handwriting and spelling asking her something or another. She huffed and stuffed the paper in her pocket. Stopping she looked around, taking in where she was. The hallway was painted bright yellow, with no windows and pictures of sunflowers and other sunny stuff as décor. She stuck her tongue out at it. She had never being in this hallway before but she would be able to find her way out of it. Something she had learned as a first year, keep turning left. You will find something familiar soon enough.

It was then that she heard the pitiful sound, it sounded like drowning puppies and screeching wagons. She tensed and closed her eyes as a sense of duty made her turn around and wave the first year a big smile. Of course it was a first year and of course the human spawn was lost. She was sure her smile looked quite fake but she didn’t care much. Her eyes showed her true feelings on the matter, she wanted to run as far away as she possibly could and not look back. Unfortunately she had a sense of loyalty, her mother had made her promise at some stage or another to be kind to first years because she had once been there. One of the more awkward situations and conversations she had been in with her mother.

After a moment her smile dropped, nope she couldn’t do this. She couldn’t be all happy-chappy to someone she clearly didn’t want to help. So with a sigh and a rolling of her eyes she spoke. Her words were crisp, stern and not as kind as the fake smile. ”Stop crying”

She raised her brows and shook her head, ”What did you think I thought you were? Trying to flood the place?” she said, her tone indicating that it had been a very stupid comment from the girl. She crossed her arms and looked the girl up and down. Of course she was the same height as a fourteen year old girl who would still grow taller. She cursed her genes mentally and then shrugged minutely.

”Well come on then, you’re gonna get us out of here” she said simply, taking a step back. Most first years got lost because they didn’t pay attention to where they were going. The girl was now going to pay attention and learn how to navigate. No matter what petal one followed it always helped to know the basics of navigation, especially in this academy. She put her hands on her hips as she watched the girl and waited. With a hand she gestured with her hand in the general direction that she knew they needed to go, beyond that she was giving no help. Feeling a bit strange with her hands on her hips she allowed her arms to cross again.

She followed the girl with a frown on her face and her arms cross, looking much like an examiner as she did so. It seemed like and felt like she was testing the girl which was an interesting concept, only problem was that she hadn’t taught the girl anything. She sighed quite audibly and dramatically when they stopped again. They hadn’t progressed far but the look on the girl’s face gave Nim the idea that she had come to the conclusion that she wouldn’t get this right.

”Pick a side” she said, her arms still crossed, her eyes watching disapprovingly. She stood like a statue, only her chest’s breathing movements and the blinking gave away that she was not. She didn’t indicate or give any miniscule clue which side the girl needed to pick. She simply stood.

She could almost see the gears in the girl’s head turn as she decided what side to take, they were the same gears that had turned when she had being younger If not as intelligent she was sure the girl would come right. She frowned in return to the girl’s smile and followed, her arms still crossed.

”Nimia Sullen” She said simply staring ahead, they were close to one of the main hallways now. All the girl had to do was turn left twice. Slowly the halls were becoming a little less bright and much more numb. Numb was good when it came to buildings, numb allowed thoughts to focus on the mind rather than on the surroundings. Yes one needed to take note of the surroundings and such like that and for that reason colourful walls were not good.

”Go on” she said, motioning that the girl should walk faster, Nim had a class soon and she didn’t want to be late even if she didn’t want to participate.
