PM Kyvestra with your questions, and she'll stick them up here if they seem general enough.
Q: How can we play these Lotuses?
A: The position of Lotus isn't up for application, per say. The staff will do their secretive susurrus of chat about each character and privately contact players with a character who would be appropriate for the Lotus position. That person can then either accept or decline the offer.
Characters will be evaluated based on their personalities, much like the criteria.
Q: Who are the staff?
A: The staff are the people that run this site. The title of Lotus means that they're an admin (with a seafoamish green as their name), Evenbourne means a global moderator (light purple), and Noble means that they're a moderator (light blue). Individually...
Kyvestra: The admin of Eventide, this site is sort of her brain child. She's also currently typing in third person.
Almost all of the lore was thought up by her, and if you've got questions about the world, she's got answers. She's also got full power as your lord and master, so bow down before her.
She is also known to go by Opal on certain other sites.
Lindrana: Kyv's second in command and a global moderator. She can help with almost anything, and has assisted with filling out the magic powers and several other parts of the site (including the student handbook and dorms). She's in charge of dorm assignments for your characters, and can also accept or reject characters.
She is also the Voice of Reason for when Kyv tries to pull something crazy.
Val: A moderator of Eventide. She assists mainly with creature creation, but if you've got questions, she's almost certainly got answers.
Q: What part does social ranking play in the choice of a student being admitted to the Academy and are there stereotypes?
A: Those from the lower classes admitted to the Academy may have their tuition paid for by scholarships, and thus they can be more motivated to learn and take advantage of the Academy's teachers and resources than the rich kids. Of course, rich kids can be motivated too, it's just that the lower-ranking students will be admitted more on a merit-based system due to their financial state nad reliance upon scholarships.
Just like in any society, there are stereotypes. They're most likely your average high school social class stereotypes, too--a lot of things about humanity haven't changed.
Q: What's the age range for each year in the Academy?
A: It's basically the age range for high school. First years in the Academy would be the equivalent of freshmen, and then up from there.
Q: What sort of weapons are used?
A:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_premodern_combat_weapons
Knock yourself out. :3
Modern explosives and firearms are also possible, but they're usually fueled using magic instead of powder.
