- "You see your brother is a godly man, sir."
The Headmaster's eyes narrowed at the particular stress on that word. Only he was allowed to harp on his brother's case, no matter the Emperor's conduct.
Besides, had his brother even been Emperor around the time of old Elias Frost's death? He couldn't remember exactly... memories before the creation of the Academy.... blurred sometimes.
"He has aided with my research, as well as allowing me the sanctuary to restore myself. He gives me the opportunity to restore my name. A name stolen from the one who bore it previously, who now gets called only mad. Stolen by the secularist heretics who cast my mother from holy society. Those of high public office, Emperor, who would turn our eyes from the truth of our faith. It was by the grace of the Fifth i came under the protection of the Headmaster, Emperor. It was no mere 'assistance'."
One hand clenched into a fist as the Headmaster turned to the table, trying to control himself.
"I apologise headmaster, i have spoken grossly out of turn and wish to return to my students and aid with the battlefield medicine. Does the emperor require my services further?"
"Indeed you have. The Emperor does not require your services any longer." The Headmaster turned to lean against the table with the backs of his upper legs, crossing his arms and tossing his head back like a rebellious stallion to get the hair out of his face. "Tend to the other injured students, Theodore. And while you're at it, see if you can find it in your holy heart to forgive my brother for serving the dragon that chose him as its earthly representative." His voice turned dangerously close to icy towards the end, dripping with dry, bitter sarcasm.
There were certain lines that the Headmaster did not tolerate crossing very well.
"Excuse me, I hate to interrupt this conversation, but I have a message from General - one of the generals."
The Headmaster tossed his brother a look. Playtime's over, brother.
The Emperor blinked slowly in return, and the Headmaster knew he had understood.
The paper was extended, ready to be read. The Emperor opened his hand, plucking it from her grasp with telekinesis just as surely as with his fingertips.
The Emperor read over the message with a quick, lazy gaze, then proffered it to his brother, who let out a little sigh and reached over to grab it.
As the Headmaster read, the Emperor glanced over the young messenger.
"Your left wrist."
The Headmaster looked up from the missive, then nodded and continued reading.
"A member of the Lighttouch Craftsman Guild, hmm? How interesting." His brother leaned back and seemed for the first time to really examine Luxis.
"A follower of the First, I take it. And a young one, judging from the fact that you're not in command of a squadron."
The Headmaster put down the missive in the middle of the table and sent a questioning glance at his brother. The Emperor nodded once.
"Introduce yourself, my student. As the Emperor, my brother occasionally finds time in his schedule to ensure that the First's up-and-coming followers are well-versed in their necessary skills." He pushed his glasses up with two fingers. "Impress him."

Notes: Spy, we'll find somewhere for you to stick Teddy.
I can throw Damian into this mix, and Teddy can swing by to heal some members of Damian's squadron, perhaps?
