"After my brother died, my mom kinda went crazy and just stopped raising me. So I sorta raised myself after that."
Amadeus nodded. "My parents' marriage just kind of failed completely and spectacularly in general." That could even be considered and understatement by some. But whatever, he didn't care enough.
Ade grimaced, and Amadeus joined her in his own remembrance of the failures his parents had been.
"Yep. Whenever I see my shot, I take it. Guess I started after my bro died. First I did it outta grief, but now it's just fun."
"Your family's had a lot of repercussions from your brother's death, then." He knew he'd flip if Aaron kicked the bucket.
Which, considering some of the stupid things the brothers had a tendency to do, he might. Wasn't he courting the Raven Lotus or something of the sort? That was dangerous.
Amadeus cleaned his plate of the remaining ravioli, snagging one of the pieces of bread to swipe the rest of the sauce with. It was tempting to request full loaves of baguette to fence with.
"By the way, what happened on Pearlmist Bridge?"
"Oh." He shrugged. "It was one of those rare field trips, and the Mistlings made an unexpected push. I was off mischief-making with a partner, got pinned in an alleyway with the wall behind us and the Mistlings everywhere else. Wasn't very fun to get out of, so I just like to make sure stuff like that doesn't happen again. We both got out, basically we roofran and shot anything in our way until we got close enough to the line that we were safe."
