Aidan had been in the Forges when the Headmasters voice had rang throughout the school, including the Blacksmith's domain. Judging from the last few years, Aidan thought that the Forges would be safe for a while, since the Headmaster and Varana usually released the beasts on the other side of the school.
But nooooo.
The Headmaster couldn't do him just one favor.
Damn him.
Feline growling came from outside the Forges bolted doorway. Aidan looked around tiredly, searching for other Blacksmiths - specifically third years that would get in his way or scream and attract the attention of the Arubi that were outside the Forge. Nope. None. Nada. Not even one person of any year was in the Forge besides Aidan. Well shit.
Nails scraped along the door as the Arubi tried to break in. Not over my dead body, Aidan thought as he carefully set down his Blacksmith's hammer and removed his apron. Slowly, Aidan removed the thick headband that held his hair from his face and then he walked slowly so that he was directly in front of the door of the Forge.
How the hell am I supposed to get out there when all those Arubi are attacking the door?
And then, it happened. That warm tingle that started in his chest and spread down to his arms and began to pool in his hands. Aidan grinned as he knew what he would do.
He closed his eyes and threw his hands up in front of him, palms facing the door. His face screwed up with concentration and he pulled up every moment of rage, passion, desperation and fear, overwhelming himself. His body heated to a degree that would be uncomfortable to anyone else.
For Aidan, it was relaxing.
Freeing.
Then, with a loud roar, fire burst from Aidan's hands and covered the door, heating it quickly. It was metal, so it would take way more to melt it, but it was enough that he heard whimpering and crying out as the Arubi were burnt from the door and backed off.
Aidan approached the door and turned the handle. The heat didn't bother him. With a deep breath, he threw open the door to face four large Arubi.
Well shit.
