Name: Tamara Green
Age: 27
Gender: Female
Lotus Specialty: Invention
Teaching Course(s): Invention 307, Invention 407
Description: Measuring in at a modest 5'5'', Tamara doesn't exactly tower above the student body. Often seen in grease-stained work suits and a full to bursting tool belt, this slim, wisp of a woman looks like she wouldn't need much help fitting into the tight spaces beneath most machines. Well developed muscles are easily seen beneath her dark skin, so though she's small it's apparent that she could easily hold her own in a fight. Wearing her hair naturally and short has caused it to form into a small afro around her head, often held away from her face with the use of headbands, goggles, or spare handkerchiefs. When not working on her latest project or teaching a class, Tamara would be seen in loose and casual clothing, and very rarely a skirt of any sort. With average looks and calloused hands, sporting chipped and broken fingernails, this inventor and mechanic would be far from considered a classic beauty.
Personality: Tamara is very much a self-motivated person, the trait showing in her go-get-em attitude. She considers herself independent and has trouble relying or trusting in others, feeling that she'd rather do the job once and do it correctly, rather than relying on someone else and running the risk of having to clean up after them. As long as it wouldn't hinder her progress she believes in letting people make their own mistakes and learning from the experience. The inventor is also somewhat of a packrat, very reluctant to throw away anything no matter how useless it may seem. Her personal workspace is full of organized boxes holding the smallest scraps of wire, metal, broken tools, etc.
History: Tamara was the only child of an orichalcum miner and his wife, a low-grade blacksmith. From the day she was born her parents saved every penny they could for a better life for Tamara, though it was hard going. By the time she was thirteen Tamara worked part time in the mines as a tunnel rat, using her small stature to fit through tiny holes to begin new tunnels. She enjoyed spending time with both her parents in their respective workplaces, learning all she could. For several years she was happy, until her father grew sick from black lung disease and passed away. Anger grew in her heart for how it seemed no one was able to help him, especially when they had so little money to afford treatment. What good were these magic users who acted better than her family when they did no good for anyone? Why were they better than her for simply being able to manipulate unseen forces? Because some made up dragons no one had ever seen deemed it so? Because some Emperor with a big thought so? She vowed then to prove them all wrong... Using every penny they had ever saved, Tamara enlisted into the academy to learn the art of inventing. She made a personal oath to show how unneeded magic truly was in light of basic human ingenuity. Who cares if a sixteen year old could bring back the dead, Tamara would simply send them back again.
When she graduated, Tamara opened up an electronics store in Atlantis' shopping district, making enough money to support her mother and herself. When suitors came knocking on her mother's door for the wealthy daughter's hand, each was turned away. The more persistent ones would find booby traps waiting for them on their next visit. Trap doors leading to pillow lined pits, ropes that would tighten on their ankles and hang them over the street to be mocked, as well as a series of simple robots that would chase them through the streets while shooting sparks.
Now in her late twenties and still unmarried, Tamara has applied for a teaching position in the same academy she inwardly despises, hoping to help shape the minds of those who don't have magic into believing that they aren't second class citizens. That an active imagination, the willingness to take risks and a drive to be the best will stand up to any fireball throwing freak. She has left her mother in charge of the store.
Other: While she does despise magic users, Tamara is not very open with her opinions, playing her views of the hierarchy and caste system close to her chest. So it would not be very common knowledge and rping knowing it would be god modding.
Relationships: Deceased father, mother living in Atlantis shopping district.
