Description:
Nimia is a small, short and lithe person. Once can describe her as having a dancer's form. Her breasts are small, her legs and arms are long and her body petite. She is extremely agile with strength and speed ranking low on the scale. She has a very light skin tone with pale white skin that tends to go red in the sun but never tan.
She has dark hair that with the light can be described as being almost purple-ish or with a hint of red. She never lets her hair grow past her shoulders and she keeps it layered so that its easier to handle. Her hair is dead straight, it never frizzes but it also refuses to curl which can be a pain.
Her eyes are a dark blue that can easily be mistaken for a purple color. Whether the purple in her hair and eyes are connected it is unknown.
Personality:
As a rather stubborn person Nim can be very hard to convince as well as impress, she is not at all interested in finding a match, a husband or whatever most people call it. She is extremely intelligent with a photographic memory. She somewhat thinks of herself as superior to others, simply because of her intelligence and in a way her intelligence makes her extremely confident and nonchalant about life. Despite outwardly appearing nonchalant inside she is quite emotional. Its a side she keeps hidden away and secret. When she was younger this was different of course but years in the academy have taught her to be as secretive as she is. She rarely speaks about herself and her words in a conversation are often a form of 'go on' or a reply to what the person is saying. Not many people know her well enough to even know when her birthday is never mind much else.
She was born into the lower classes, because of her years in the academy she has picked up the habits of the higher class so one outwardly she appears to have being born to a higher class family. Of course she never talks about her beginnings, how she came to the academy or anything else so one wouldn't know anyways.
She thinks a lot and often one can catch her with a strange look on her face while she considers some strange thought or she decides what to do next in a situation. Her thought processes are very logical as she values logic much higher than emotion and very rarely does she allow her emotion to be shown. She has learned to school her expression and body language so that it is unreadable. She is very interested in how other people think and act so she spends a lot of time watching people from safe distances. This by no means means that she enjoys the company of others, she is very much an introvert. She keeps to herself most of the time.
She can be described as neither a good person or a bad person, she is somewhere in the middle. Very rarely does she feel emotion towards a person such as love or hate, she is a logical rather than an emotional person and therefore people are evaluated on what they can offer. This of course means she is quite a lonely person, it is the one kind of emotion/feeling that seeps out of her. Her loneliness is very much self-inflicted though as she fears getting close to others.
She is extremely rebellious and does what she wants rather than what is expected, this means she isn't the greatest of students even if she does ace most of her tests. If she doesn't feel like participating in a practical she won't.
History:
Nim's mother was the daughter of a merchant, her father the son of a peasant, a marriage that her mother's parents didn't approve of but they let happen anyway. They loved their daughter and wanted her to be happy. Nim's father became a miner and died when Nim was fairly young. Her mother at the time had being working in the kitchens of a popular restaurant. Her mother's grief sent the two of them back to her grandparent's home. They had long since retired but they still had some money left. Nim's mother was their only child and so they were living on leftovers. After a week or two Nim's mother found another job and soon the one job evolved into two and so Nim was left with her grandparents for most of the day. Her grandmother was a cold and calculating woman who regretted allowing her daughter to marry someone of such low class. Her grandfather a loving and friendly man who was always eager to laugh.
By the time Nim was four she was reading novels, not that they were easy to come by. Most of the books that her grandparents had acquired during their wealthier years had being sold to help pay for the things that needed to be paid for. She was left with ledgers and logs from past trades. Things that soon became etched into memory, using the ledgers she taught herself basic arithmetic and her grandfather saw the potential in her and referred her to her grandmother. Her grandmother then began to hold daily lessons, lessons that went by faster than expected. One night during tea with a friend her grandmother was boasting, as most grandmothers do, about Nim and of course word spread.
The word spread to the academy and instead of jumping right on the bandwagon and accepting the child into their school she was watched. At age twelve she received a letter informing her of her acceptance into the academy and her scholarship. Of course this thrilled her grandparents and overworked mother. Not only was the child they had raised becoming so much more than they could ever dream to become but it was also one less mouth to feed. Nim on the other hand was not to keen. The magic that the academy taught and used scared her, almost as much as the creatures that had killed off most of mankind.
And so she moved to the academy and began her classes. She tried very hard at first to make friends but of course being from a lower class she was looked down upon. She was never loud mouthed about her marks and in a way never gained the respect of her classmates who all expected her to fail at the end of first year. Of course she came out on top, top of the class to be exact. This gained her some respect but by then she had already endured a year of ostracism and judgement. She had changed from a bubbly little girl into a shadow, a wall spider. The constant teasing and nastiness had made her very much a loner, very secretive, rather reserved and shy
By the end of first year she had decided what petal to go with. As second year progressed she lost a lot of her reservedness and shyness and it became more of a rebelliousness. A hate of going with the crowd, she became rather bad. Doing things that were against the rules and most times she wasn't caught but when she was she played those in authority making them believe she hadn't meant to and whatnot. Of course it didn't always work and she did get into trouble occasionally but it taught her how to perfect the technique.
During third year she settled somewhat, becoming less rebellious and paying a bit more attention to her studies, this was furthered during her fourth year where she gained a sense of responsibility and a touch of morality. She no longer attempted to sacrifice her roommates to faceless gods that only she believed in and she no longer allowed her emotion to rule her decisions. She fell into the shadows, becoming a faceless watcher and silent studier.
